MOHR/ARRM Day at the Capitol
Tuesday, March 13th
Rally at 10 am in the State Capitol Rotunda
Join your fellow MOHR members as well as many ARRM members as we rally in the Capitol Rotunda and fill the halls of the Capitol Complex with our message of the importance of supporting community based disability services.
Meeting with your legislators: While at the Day at the Capitol, MOHR encourages everyone to meet with their legislators to continue to educate them on the value of community based disability services. In an effort to avoid multiple appointments for each legislator, Cody Holliday will set up group appointments for members who would like to meet with their legislators. Cody will also be coordinating with ARRM to try to set up joint MOHR/ARRM appointments with legislators when possible. Please note that when we set meetings up for you we will need the names and addresses of those attending meetings (legislators are requiring this information so that they know which meeting attendees are their constituents). Therefore if you plan to meet with your legislators while attending the Day at the Capitol, simply fill out the attached registration form with the names of those you are registering and their address, and Cody will set up the legislator meetings for you. Please also include a contact number for one person from the group. Information about those legislator appointment times will be emailed to members prior to March 13th. If you will not be meeting with your legislators during our Day at the Capitol, simply fill out the form with your group name and estimated number of attendees.
Additional Logistical Information: One-page background documents about MOHR’s legislative priorities for the 2018 session will be emailed out to MOHR membership prior to Day at the Capitol. MOHR members will be encouraged to print and bring for your legislators copies of the background documents on those issues you care most about. The same email will also have links to a map of the capitol complex and a guide to legislator office locations. (All this information is easily accessible on the MN Legislative website, along with a guide for visiting the capitol complex). MOHR has also reserved room 400 South in the State Office Building from 9-4 on March 13th. As in past years, this room will be open to be used as a resource/resting room for MOHR members to leave coats, rest between meetings, eat lunch, and will be staffed all day. We hope to have MOHR buttons and flags on the day of the event for use during the rally.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
