Why a need for Minnesota Families and Advocates Coalition? (MNFAC)

Disability services are experiencing historic transition and change.

Families and advocates have an interest to learn, understand, embrace or change the implementations of several initiatives that will impact people with disabilities receiving day services and/or residential care services in various settings.

It is vital to ADVOCATE, in a grassroots effort to help ensure that quality services, supports and true choice continue for people with disabilities and their families.

MNFAC’s goals focus on Advocacy, Awareness Building and Peer Support & Advisement.

To ADVOCATE, in a grassroots effort, to help ensure that quality services, supports, and true choice continue for people with disabilities and their families.

Purpose:

Disability services are experiencing historic transition and change. MNFAC members have an interest to learn, understand, embrace or change the implementations of several initiates that will impact people with disabilities receiving day services and/or residential care services in various settings.

Goals:

  • Advocacy: Organize efforts to support individuals with disabilities and their rights by educating and working with government officials
  • Awareness: Promote the accomplishments and every-day obstacles overcome by persons with disabilities and their families
  • Advisement: Provide both peer support and organizational feedback to meet the current and future needs for persons with disabilities; A grassroots effort to give “Voice to the Voiceless”
