What a relief it was to have some support for disability services from the Legislative and Executive branches this session. Our challenges are far from solved, but we are encouraged that things seem to be moving in a positive direction.

We are thankful for a rate increase of approximately 4 percent, known as the Competitive Workforce Factor, to help address rising costs. And, the change to have automatic rate adjustments every two years, instead of every five, is a needed improvement. These will reduce impacts from the 7 percent rate cut surprise of 2018. 

We now rely on an overly complex rate system, but most of the people who work in this field love what they do. Would you be available to come out for a visit this summer? It’s another opportunity to meet the individuals with disabilities we serve and our staff. You will not be disappointed.
