More than 400 attend Options, Inc. 40th celebration

Options, Inc. celebrated its 40th anniversary on Saturday, October 5 at the organization's location in Big Lake. The nonprofit had about 400 people attend the party, enjoying lunch and dancing to a live band.

In 1979, the Sherburne County Developmental Achievement Center opened its doors to nine adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, in a leased space at a local church. This was the result of a group of very determined parents who knew their kids could live productive, inclusive lives in their communities, explains Executive Director Brenda Geldert.

"Forty years later, Options, Inc. continues our mission to empower and support people in living and working in the mainstream of community life. We provide a variety of services to 260 people, working with 90 business partners in 20 communities."
